Line Drawing & Colour - 1 Day
Tutor: Philip Holmes
Date: 19 November
This one-day workshop uses line and colour to convey colour and mood. Working from photographs, drawings, or imagination, using line and flat colour to draw portraits or figures. This could be your springboard to your own graphic novel or illustrated story. Both Picasso and Matisse used this technique in their work.

Drawing with Charcoal - 1 Day
Tutor: Naga Tsutsumi
Date: 17 September
Drawing with charcoal is addictive. Its fast and immediate and the final product looks fantastic. In the workshop you will learn charcoal drawing tips and tricks to help you produce your own masterpiece.

Printmaking - 2 Days
Tutor: Daphne Simons
Date: 18 & 19 June
Printmaking is a messy and fun way to get creative, and mono-printing is a great way to start. Working from photos, drawings, and your own ideas, we will try out several mono-printing techniques together. Experimenting with backgrounds, textures, layering processes, stencilling, and even some drawing and painting thrown in. You will learn to use ink and paper in new ways and take home at least one finished artwork.

Watercolour Workshop - 2 Days
Tutor: Dennis Greenwood
Dates: 29 & 30 October
Watercolour is a beautiful highly flexible medium that can be used in many ways and for many different subjects. It is quick and convenient to use with simple materials and quick clean up. Using landscape as the subject of this workshop you will explore various methods of colour mixing, ways to lay down washes and how to layer paint. You should complete at least one painting during the workshop.

Portraiture & Figure Drawing - 1 or 2 Days
Tutors: Naga Tsutsumi & Frank Callear
Dates: 13 & 14 August
The first day concentrates drawing the human form from a live unclothed model. Explore different ways to represent the human form in drawing with guidance from an experienced tutor.
On the second day you will learn portraiture techniques, and how to draw a realistic portrait.
Suitable for absolute beginners or artists wanting to polish their skills. People can choose to attend one or two days.

Drawing & Painting Birds in Nature - 1 Day

This course is for anyone interested in learning how to draw and paint birds or would like to expand their knowledge of nature. This course is great for anyone who is a beginner in watercolour as we begin with the basics. However, this course is also suitable for experienced painters who want to expand their illustration abilities.

Drawing Animals with Charcoal - 1 Day
Tutor: Naga Tsutsumi
Date: 1 October
Bring the animal kingdom to life through captivating artwork. Charcoal is a wonderful medium to use when drawing animals as it lends itself to shading as well as highlighting for definition and texture. Using a few simple tools such as erasers, blending sticks and cloth you will learn how to create line and tone.

Painting Flowers in Watercolour - 1 Day
Tutor: Frank Callear
Dates: 26 November
Create subtle watercolour artworks, which show the various shades of your flowers. We will teach you how to match and mix colours and create vibrant colour and tones through a variety of guided and practical sessions. You will familiarise yourself with the techniques used to create professional-looking watercolour paintings, explore how to build layers with watercolour, and how different brands and pigments vary in quality and application. You will work from photo references, paintings, and real flowers.
